Amazon Description:
The Isaiah Effect: Decoding the Lost Science of Prayer and Prophesy draws on new discoveries in quantum physics, as well as a variety of spiritual traditions and religious documents--including Tibetan, Mayan, and Hopi prophecies; Nostradamus; and the Dead Sea Scrolls. From these sources, author Gregg Braden believes that he has recovered "a lost science with the power to bring a lasting end to all war, disease, and suffering; initiate an unprecedented era of peace and cooperation between governments and nations; render destructive patterns of weather harmless; bring lasting healing to our bodies; and redefine ancient prophecies of devastation and catastrophic loss of life." Mass prayer is the technique that will allow all of these goals to be achieved, Braden says: "the choice of many people, focused in a specific manner, has a direct and measurable effect on our quality of life." The book includes careful readings of ancient texts, prophetic pronouncements, and mini-travelogues (Braden leads groups to visit sacred sites around the world), and its arguments may strike some readers as far-fetched. But Braden's basic idea--that hope can change the world in concrete ways--is a very good one.

Open your mind and create miracles

I read this over the summer and what a great book to take along. Braden is articulate and enjoyable. He covers a lot of ground in this book, starting with prophecies and moving on to the art of prayers.

In Prophecies, Braden reviews a variety of visions from cultures throughout the world. He explains how to take in these numerous grand visions of destructions we have all grown up with, warning us of a time of death, violence and destructions for us all. He reminds us that these prophets also speak of a world at peace with beauty and love. What are we to believe? Braden explains how both are true in that a seer receives a possible outcome in the current timeline, that is if the world at the time of the vision remains on that parth, of what could come to be. Societies do wake up to certain issues and start making better choices, therefore altering the path of that original vision to a now new future. Nostradamus said multiple times that the future could be changed. It is up to us to make better choices to bring on the vision of beauty rather than the other.

The other main theme of this book is the power of prayer -more specifically, the Lost power of prayer. He presents several cases of “miracle” healing, the effect of individual and group prayers over the sick, and several other instances of scientifically unexplainable results. Braden goes in depth into his research for the prayer as it was originally intended and backs his conclusions with data and ancient documents. He also offers hope that we can relearn this lost art and have beneficial effects of eachothe and our world.

Overall, I found Braden's book to be hopefull and inspiring. He lives the reader with a sense that it is not all doom and destruction, that we are not helpless. We can make better choices, we can heal ourselves, we can heal the word. We must make that choice everyday.
