I read this book, the first one I had picked up for some time that actually caught my attention and kept it, after 'Choice Theory' (Glasser) and before 'The Power of Now' (Tolle). Interesting enough, this one has stuck with me after nearly a year in terms of its relevance and content in today's world, as we who try to find happiness in 'the system' struggle daily with maintaining our freedom as human beings.
This outstanding book is so 'on point' as it describes in user-friendly detail, the reality of nature, and in fact places us as human beings right in the midst of it, demonstrating at the same time, how much of human living today goes contrary to our basic nature. The whole concept of the struggle is minimised, as man's activities are aligned with that of the birds and the grass, which do not suffer at any point to 'become'. This would be the Law of 'Least Effort', and in fact endorses the approach 'Do less and accomplish more' as long as your actions are motivated by love, since energy is multiplied and accumulated in that way.
The idea of 'affluence' and 'currency' are also elaborated and their roots explained, as related to flow, thus promoting the idea of constant give and receive as the actual indication of abundance. Holding on to anything is akin to interfering with the flow of nature and its infinite capability to decide what you should receive… its intelligence. [The Law of Giving]
The other laws speak sensibly of choosing your actions to generate good karmic flow towards you, the mind and its power, the importance of letting go of outcomes to experience joy, finding and embracing your unique talents, and having regular communion with nature so that you can indeed hear it speak to you and guide you rightly.
It is not an unrealistic writing at all; in fact it has actually been applicable in the 'real world' when I choose each law and practise it till I am at peace with it. Although you can naturally lose track of certain laws from time to time, this book is a simple reminder of how effortless life is, when we choose to live humanly, and realise our place as other members of the universal family.
Like the zebras, and the grass, and the birds and the seals …
I endorse this book totally.
