I was only twelve when I read The Tao of Pooh, and even though I was raised in a very spiritual (and spiritually open) family, I knew absolutely nothing about Taoism. I'd never even talked about it or really heard about it, and I still don't know how that book found it's way onto my bookshelf as a child. What I do know is that it gave me a great introduction into Taoism and helped me understand the difference between Taoism and say, Buddhism. Were it not for this book, I probably wouldn't be as fascinated by Eastern spirituality as I am, which would be a tragedy, in my opinion. I wouldn't say it's a great book for someone who knows a great deal about Taoism and is looking for more information, but it's a quick read and could probably put a smile on your face.
