"You have to maintain a fine balance between hope and despair"

This is a beautiful piece of multicultural literature…a strength of a lot of Indian authors I have read is that they are able to write from an elevated place; dialogue is not mundane and commonplace, instead, every sentence is infused with life and beauty, even when the subject matter is bleak. This lengthy novel was so beautifully written, weaving the stories of four people from different caste systems into one gorgeous tale of 'hope and despair'.

Sometimes you have to use your failures as stepping-stones to success. You have to maintain a fine balance between hope and despair. In the end, it's all a question of balance.
