Philips was the architect of Nixon’s, and the Republican Party’s, 1968 triumph in the previously Democratic South (now labled Red States). Philips is now a very harsh critic of the Republican Party and the Bush Dynasty. His prior (celebrated) alignment with the Republican party, in contrast to his current positon, yeilds extraordinary strength to his thoroughly researched, and eloquently articulated, books.
It is essential, for the sake of sentient beings, to engage in ‘Bottom Up’ (meditation, contemplation, mantra recitiation, spiritual practices, etc.) practices, developing ourselves towards an ever greater scope of compasion and care. However, we must simultaneously engage in ‘Top Down’ action, by: organizing, agitating, publicizing, and communicating for: social, political, economic, and judicial change (evolution) which satisfies the expediencies arrising, in us, from the greater wisdom available to us through our ‘bottom up’ work. However, in order for us to be effective in ‘Top Down’ action we must be educated as to the harsh, and tragic, realities that face us in America today.
Kevin Philips book, American Theocracy, is a wake up call to action. Read it; take heed of the situation; and act. Or the world will be much the poorer, along with (literaly) every American, should Philips assesment of America’s decline come to be realized.
