Review of : Hope for the Flowers

like a caterpillar

people sought for their highest potential, yet sometimes people get trapped and entangled in these great caterpillar pillars. people think that it is the only and best way to get to the top - to climb the great pillar with others: stepping at each other's bodies and dreams, pulling each other down. Ironically, the best way to the top is to become a butterfly and FLY… but being one isn't that easy. one must risk the catterpillar to become a butterfly.
Hope for the Flowers
i first heard this story from my 4th year adviser when i was graduating in high school. it was a day before our scheduled 1st quarter examinations, our last first quarter in high school. it was one of his last 'stories of wisdom' to share in class. the time i heard this story, i loved it so much. i searched for the book at Powerbooks, a special bookstore here in the Philippines. Luckily i found it - a very thin book, in black and yellow and white, with illustrations like that drawn of a child. Actually, it really looked like child's storybook or those a-child's-first-read-it-yourself book. Nevertheless, i got the book and read it in the book store (i didn't have extra money to buy the book). It was satisfying, it was a very inspiring story.
Up to now, I still recommend the book to my classmates.
ahh… i remember, one time i was able to discuss it with a college block mate.
Points I really like about the book:
+ it's nice to go on with life together with the people we love. sometimes, or maybe everytime, it is they that inspire us to move on, to change, to aim high. it is our love our for them that makes us realize so many things in life that we are blinded of.
+ yeah… one must risk the caterpillar to become a butterfly. one day will come or has come that we have to let go of our former selves for our better. we must spin our own cocoon and leave everthing up to the almighty universe.
+ people are very much like the caterpillars… there is more in life than just eating, and getting bigger…

“How does one become a butterfly?” she asked.
“You must want to fly so much that you are willing to give up being a caterpillar.”
