positionalities, and how to address them.
This was easily the most challenging of Hawkins’ books for me to get through. It brought up a great many positionalities that I never knew I even had–especially those regarding politics and society.
Strangely enough, despite the great frustrations that came about, this is the book that I reference the most for (re)contextualizing political, social and personal phenomena.
There’s more valueable information in the book than you could shake a stick at–which, to me, has made it more invalueable than any set of encyclopedias could ever be.
Perhaps it’s not the most ‘enlightening’ book that you will read, but don’t let that deter you from this supremely powerful resource.
to note however, one should be aware that in approaching this work, it’s best not to ask oneself whether one agrees or disagrees with what is being said, but rather, whether one understands the principles and patterns which are being discussed. Again and again, this book points to the greater context that one must identify in order to transcend positionalities regarding the details(content).
Not for everyone…but still, an absolutely wonderful contribution to spiritual literature.
